Obituaries does not seem to be the right thing to call this page, the name serves a purpose - it puts across the point but not the feeling. I have difficulty explaining to the wife what it was like living in Kenya never mind the feelings that you are left with once you leave it all behind, and then again the feeling that you get when you find that one of the good friends from those days has passed on. This is a list of people that I knew who have died since I left Kenya. There were quite a few before but so be it. Can I mention something that Lester Kemp said that I wholeheartedly agree with - as follows: =

' If depressed, feel free to ring your Kenya mates and talk over  your problems'

Now for the hard bit - Those who are gone.

Sorry to say we have lost another friend - Grant Bosher - It is with GREAT sadness that I have to inform you that Grant passed away on Friday 3rd November

Someone who was very close to me from those days (and I am sure to others), passed away a while ago - Gail Cruickshank. She died on 25th November, 1991 in London. Her Death was very sudden and totally unexpected from cardiomyopathy. She would have been 37 this year (2002).  My (and I am sure our), belated condolences go to all of her family.

Miles Sandys-Lumsdaine. Died 6 years ago in a car crash, he was driving back
to Nairobi from Tanzania where he worked for Doormans Coffee. He was doing
really well after a spell of uncertainty over his path in life.

Gerard O'Connor is no longer with us. He died on Thursday 17th May 2001. I spent the last few days in Kenya with him and Doug Hindley. My condolences to his family. Such a shame - as they all are!

This is from Dennis Rhodes

When we were all kids in Nairobi, a good number of Railway/Golfing people made up our local
community. Nearly all of us knew the Lapraik family, Thelma was born in Kisumu in the 30s
and Jimmy went to Kenya in the 30s as a 3 year old. He was KR, and shot up a bit at the age
of 18 in the Mau mau. They had twins, Graham and Victoria, born in 58. Victoria went to Valley
Rd Convent, and Graham to Saints. They left for Rhodesia & SA in 73.

Victoria suddenly died on her 42nd Birthday in Cairns, Australia  on 4th December, and her
funeral was held there.

Her ashes have been flown to the UK and there will be a Memorial Service at St. Leonard's
Church, Exeter at 2:00pm on Wednesday 28th March 2001.

I have the families address, should anyone wish to contact me for it.

Emanuele Piri-Gallman we have some pictures on the hillcrest site to remind us. He was bitten by one of his pet snakes as he was milking it. A true KC - someone has tried to take his place in the film 'I Dream of Africa' (I think that is what it was called) but it is strange watching someone try to play someone you knew!

Mukesh Pandit. Again there are some pictures of him on the hillcrest site. Mukesh died in a small aircraft accident.

Rick Mathews. 29/09/2000 - Rick - what can I say - again there are pictures of him on the hillcrest pages. Rick committed suicide on the night of Friday 29th September. (Sorry not to beat around the bush). (His son died from a brain tumor a couple of years ago when he was 13 months and Rick never got over it.
